How to Fix This Error in P6 v24 When Updating Baselines
In the latest version of Primavera P6 v24, there have been major changes to updating baselines, including a visual overhaul and some new functionality. However, some of our clients have recently noticed that their baselines weren’t updating correctly. While the Job Services logs showed that everything was updating properly, in reality users weren’t seeing any changes when they actually went into their projects to check if their baseline changes were reflected.

Note here that I am attempting to make several changes to this baseline.

Once Job Services runs, you’ll see that P6 thinks it has updated the baseline.

However, when we actually check on the project, nothing has changed in my Gantt chart, even after a refresh. The relationships between the activities have not been updated, nor have the activity durations or start dates. Everything has stayed the same.

You’ll note that the Job Services log says that changes were made to the baseline, but those changes won’t actually have been applied to the baseline when you look at the Gantt chart. This failed change affects all changes involving activities, including logic, resource assignments, activity durations, and steps.

We have found that sometimes if you turn off Ignore Last Update Date, P6 will be able to update the baselines as usual. However, this didn’t work all the time. If this doesn’t work for you, a more stable solution is to temporarily use P6 Web to make updates to your baseline, as only the client version of P6 is affected by this bug. Oracle is aware of this issue and is working on a fix.
