Primavera P6 Not Refreshing Properly through F5? - Try ALT-SHIFT-F5

New Hidden Refresh Key Combination in P6 Professional (Optional Client) Version 8.x and 15.x

A client who we are currently upgrading to P6 v 15.1 has been complaining that the refresh is not working properly in P6 Professional (aka The Optional Client). This client had no issues with release 7.x.

We did some testing and found the same thing. Sometimes hitting F5 doesn’t reliably get a refresh.

In researching the issue, we found this new article on the Oracle Primavera Knowledgebase (Doc ID 2044715.1, released last week). This document says that because they have been having trouble getting F5 to work reliably in 8.x/15.x, they have introduced a new “hidden refresh key combination”, ALT-SHIFT-F5. This has the effect of closing and re-opening all projects to force a full refresh. This works on >=8.3.9.0, >=8.4.6.0 and >=15.1.2.0 (this means that if you have 8.4.1, it won’t work – Oracle maintains separate minor release numbers within major releases).

If you are having issues with refresh, this is worth a try. Note that we have also been having issues with F5 not working reliably on the Projects screen and only exiting and re-opening P6 seems to reliably refresh that screen. So far, ALT-SHIFT-F5 is not working on the Projects screen.
